WORKING VISIT OF THE MAYOR OF GIFU TO THE EMBASSY OF COTE D'IVOIRE

As part of the "Host Town Initiative", which is defined as the pre-Olympic phase of cultural exchanges between the participating delegations in the Olympic and Paralympic Games of TOKYO 2020 and the populations of the host cities during this period , a delegation from the city of Gifu, led by Mr. Masanao SHIBAHASHI, Mayor of the commune of Gifu, had a working session with His Excellency Mr. Jérôme Klôh WEYA, Wednesday, February 20, 2019, from 13:30 to 14:15. The Mayor was accompanied by the Director of Citizen Participation, the International Division and the Deputy Director of the Mayor's Office and Chief of Staff of the Town Hall, as well as the coordinator of the Host Town Initiative initiative of the city of Gifu .

After the civilities, Mr. SHIBAHASHI announced to have come to express his gratitude to Cote d’Ivoire for having chosen his city as "host city" of the athletes for the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics of 2020. He invited on the other hand that the competent Ivorian authorities visit his city and its sports facilities. He finally expressed the wish to see the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire organize conferences and various cultural, gastronomic and other activities. for the promotion of Côte d'Ivoire. In addition, the Mayor informed the Ambassador that the town hall has appointed Dr KAKOU Brou Georges as coordinator "Host Town" of his city.

His Excellency Jérôme Klôh WEYA, who noted that the relations of the city of Gifu and Côte d'Ivoire are very old, said he was pleased with Gifu's choice as host city; choice that will further strengthen relations between the city of Gifu and Côte d'Ivoire. He gave his approval for the organization of the activities of animation to make better known Cote d’Ivoire to the inhabitants of the city of Gifu. Finally, he expressed his availability and that of the Embassy played its full role in ensuring the success of this "partnership" between the city of Gifu and Côte d'Ivoire.
