VISITE BY STUDENTS FROM CÔTE D'IVOIRE

As part of the “Africa Youth Program,” which aims to promote mutual understanding between the people of Japan and Côte d’Ivoire, twenty-five (25) students from the Félix Houphouët-Boigny High School in Korhogo, the Sainte-Marie High School in Cocody, the Yamoussoukro Science High School, the Abidjan Technical High School, and the Odienné Technical and Vocational High School are on an immersion visit to Japan from June 29 to July 8, 2026.

On Wednesday, July 1, 2026, His Excellency IPO Désiré hosted a luncheon at the Embassy’s chancellery for the Ivorian delegation, which was accompanied on this occasion by representatives of the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE), the implementing partner for this program.

In his remarks, the Ambassador first took the opportunity to commend JICE’s pivotal role in organizing and coordinating this program, which is part of the commitments arising from TICAD, a major framework for dialogue and cooperation between Japan and Africa, particularly in support of youth.

He then encouraged the program participants to demonstrate curiosity, open-mindedness, discipline, and respect throughout their stay in order to make the most of every activity and every encounter. This experience offers them a unique opportunity for discovery, learning, and opening their minds to the world. He thus invited them to draw inspiration from the best practices of Japan, a model country in the fields of education, discipline, innovation, and a job well done.

A luncheon in honor of the delegation was served to conclude the reception.
