Consular approach
On April 14, 2026, His Excellency Mr. Désiré Wulfran G. IPO, Ambassador of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to Japan, resident in Tokyo, had the distinct honor of presenting to His Excellency Mr. Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., President of the Republic of the Philippines, the letters by which the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Alassane OUATTARA, has accredited him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Côte d’Ivoire to the Republic of the Philippines.
On this occasion, Ambassador IPO conveyed to his distinguished host the cordial greetings and best wishes for health and prosperity from President Alassane Ouattara. He further commended the excellent state of bilateral relations and expressed confidence that they would be strengthened during his tenure, under the joint leadership of the Ivorian and Philippine Presidents, in a spirit of mutual understanding and fruitful partnership.
On the sidelines of the ceremony, Ambassador IPO held several working sessions with senior officials from the government and the business community. The discussions identified promising opportunities for cooperation in the diplomatic, economic, educational, and agricultural sectors.
In addition, the Ambassador met with the Ivorian community residing in the Philippines to hear their concerns. He then conveyed to them the support of the President of the Republic and the Government, while advising them on the need to conduct themselves in an exemplary manner, in keeping with the positive image our country enjoys in the Philippines.
This mission highlighted the clear willingness of the Philippines authorities—whose country serves as a gateway to Southeast Asia and ASEAN—to strengthen bilateral relations. Recommendations were made to expedite the conclusion of cooperation agreements in various fields, including services, technical education, tropical agriculture, trade, and investment.
