On March 15, 2016, the Embassy of Côte d’Ivoire took part in the celebration of Francophonie Day at the Institut Français in Tokyo.
This year’s event was once again an invitation to travel and enjoy each other’s company. Featuring concerts, creative workshops, film screenings, and cultural booths, a diverse program was designed to allow people of all ages to escape for a day.
Beyond language, this event is an opportunity to discover the vibrant cultures of French-speaking countries and to uphold essential values together: solidarity, diversity, and openness to others. Across the globe, the Francophonie unites more than 300 million speakers in 54 countries.
This celebration was graced by the distinguished presence of the Ambassadors of France, Belgium, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Senegal, and Morocco, in addition to the Ambassador of Côte d’Ivoire, H.E. IPO Désiré.
On this occasion, the Embassy hosted a booth filled with items highlighting the cultural richness of Côte d’Ivoire. The Embassy also took the opportunity to promote the visibility of Côte d’Ivoire’s cocoa by setting up a chocolate fountain. This naturally led to a large crowd at the booth.
In the same spirit, Ambassador IPO Désiré hosted a concert featuring the Ivorian artist residing in Japan, KOUAME Oswald, who treated the large audience to popular Ivorian musical tunes.
