On Saturday, October 18, 2025, the Embassy of Côte d'Ivoire in Japan celebrated the anniversary of the independence of the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire.

On this occasion, His Excellency Mr. IPO Désiré, Ambassador of Côte d'Ivoire to Japan, and his wife organized a sober ceremony at the Côte d'Ivoire residence to mark the 65th anniversary of the Ivorian nation. A host of distinguished guests attended, including senior officials from the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, friends of Côte d'Ivoire, and numerous economic operators.

The ceremony began with the national anthems of Japan and Côte d'Ivoire, followed by a series of speeches. Ms. KAKOU Jocelyne, President of the Association of Ivorians in Japan (AIJ), was the first to speak, emphasizing the constant strengthening of the ties of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. Mr. KODERA Jiyoshi, President of the Japan-Côte d'Ivoire Friendship Association (JCIFA), then praised the excellent bilateral relations, marked by a notable increase in trade in recent years.
Ambassador IPO Désiré warmly welcomed friends of Côte d'Ivoire, thanking them for their presence at this significant event. He praised the historic friendship between Côte d'Ivoire and Japan, which began under the presidency of the late Félix Houphouët-Boigny, and noted the increased confidence of Japanese investors since the advent of President Alassane Ouattara. He concluded his speech by urging the economic operators present to step up their investments in Côte d'Ivoire, a country that has maintained sustained economic growth unmatched anywhere else in the world for the past fifteen years.

The evening continued with a group photo of the Ambassador surrounded by Japanese officials, followed by a buffet featuring the best Ivorian dishes. The festivities ended with a popular dance to the rhythm of traditional Ivorian music.
